2001: Culture and Curriculum: Broadening the Perspective on Foreign Language Instruction
This symposium presented a forum in which language instructors could share innovative methods they have been employing in their language classrooms. The goal of the 2001 symposium was to explore methods of incorporating culture into the foreign language classroom through various media such as textual sources, pictures, and audio and video files. The focus of the presentations was on how these cultural materials were adapted to the language curriculum and how they enhanced students' understanding and appreciation of both the target language and culture. The teaching methodologies ranged from using the newest and most cutting edge technologies such as CD-ROMS and the internet to more traditional approaches.
