Co-Chairs
Co-Chairs provide leadership to the council as they are responsible for the operation of the Council. Co-chairs are appointed by the Dean of WCAS in consultation with council members for a term of two years (staggered). The term begins in the spring quarter and ends in the winter quarter of the second year.

The election of a new co-chair takes place in winter quarter. The current co-chairs will send out a request for nominations (including self-nominations) through e-mail. The co-chairs will present the nominations to the full council, which will select up to two candidates by a majority of votes. Two thirds of the council’s full members constitutes a quorum for the election of a new co-chair. Only full council members will participate in the election of a new co-chair. The name(s) of the new co-chair(s) will be forwarded to the dean of thecollege, who will make the final decision after consulting with the current co-chairs. Any full-time language teaching professional (regardless of rank) may become a co-chair. The only restriction is that one of the two co-chairs must represent either German, French, or Spanish, and the other co-chair must represent one of the smaller languages.

Co-chairs are compensated for their work. They will receive either half a course release per year (or one course release for the two-year term) or a $2000 research stipend per year (a $4000 research stipend for the two-year term).
